Great tips for flying with children

Flying can sometimes be stressful enough on it's own, try adding a baby and a toddler to that equation! Do not worry, it is not impossible, with some helpful planning and (a lot!) of patience it can be done.

We've compiled a few of the best and must-have tips out there to share with you.

Allow Yourself Time
This is probably the most important tip, give yourself time.  Arrive early, this will give the kids plenty of time for snacks, bathroom breaks, etc and it will save you stress! Read more here on this great post by DeliciousBaby.com

Choose Wisely
Nothing will make you loose your mind more than an airport packed with people, flight delays, lines to check in, and not to mention the security process!  Check ahead on when peak times are and if possible try to avoid those.  Less crowds, less stress!

Give Them Something To Do
Pack activities: coloring books, story books, puzzles.  Give in to technology, you will never appreciate a portable DVD player or game system more but make sure to charge the batteries the night before!

These tips and more can be found on OneStepAhead.com.  Read more here

Know The Rules
Do you research, every airline has different regulations as far age and car seats.  Did you know that there are risk-based procedures for children 12 and under? For example, a child under 12 does not have to remove shoes.  Knowing this will save you time and stress as you get through security.  Also, know the regulations in regards to formula/milk if travelling with an infant, you are allowed to bring it on your carry on and on board but are encouraged to only carry the least amount necessary.

Find more information on TSA.gov they have great videos you can check out as well.

We hope this information was as helpful to you as we found it to be, do not stress or worry about travelling with small children, with a bit of planning, it can be a breeze.

Planning a vacation to Orlando/Disney? The last tip we can offer is to rent a vacation rental over a hotel room.  Not only do vacation rentals offer more room/space, but fully equipped kitchens, washer and dryer and in some instances a private pool.  Prices are reasonable and sometimes even considerably less than what you would pay for a hotel room.  For more information, visit our website www.AmericanHomesAVH.com.

4th of July Celebrations around Central Florida

Orlando 4th of July Week of Fireworks !

There will be plenty of sites to celebrate and watch our Orlando sky illuminated with spectacular fireworks displays like the Light and Fireworks show at Lake Eola in downtown Orlando.  The newly renovated downtown Orlando emblem water fountain had a $1.6 million restoration that  included the addition of brighter LED lights and more powerful water jets. If the city follows the same schedule as last year, the new fountain will have a patriotic light show at 9:30 pm on July 4th, 2012 just prior to the city’s firework show. Both the fountain demonstration and the firework celebration will be choreographed to music played throughout the park.  Fireworks at the Fountain in  downtown Orlando on 4th of July are some of the best you can find outside of the theme parks.  They draw a big crowd so arrive early to secure a good viewing spot and to enjoy live music, food and kids entertainment area prior to the show.

Also a variety of special events for Fourth of July are scheduled at all four of the major theme parks  of Orlando at Walt Disney World® Resort – Disney’s Magic Kingdom® Park, Epcot®, Disney's Hollywood Studios™ and Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park – such as patriotic parades, live music and spectacular fireworks shows.  A street party with live entertainment and fireworks is also planned for Pleasure Island in Downtown Disney. All of the Fourth of July celebrations are included in the regular admission price. Enjoying  this great  environment is the perfect way to start your Orlando vacation  adventure!
You can also spend the Fourth of July weekend enjoying the thrilling rides and attractions at Universal Orlando’s two extraordinary theme parks  Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. For more information about 2012 Fourth of July at Universal Orlando Resort, visit click here..

If you are in Seminole County, Winter Spring is gathering the entire family to spend an all-American day of live music, great food, kids’ games, contests, activities and an awesome fireworks display over Lake Jesup at Winter Springs’ Celebration of Freedom! Admission is free, or you can also go to Altamonte Spring to the beautiful Cranes Roost Park lights up with an immensely popular festival and fireworks display that includes live music from nationally and international known entertainers, as well as an awesome fireworks display and food/beverage booths at the Red Hot & Boom! Independence Day Celebration. Sponsored by the City of Altamonte Springs and XL 106.7 FM, Red Hot & Boom! is the largest Independence Day celebration in Central Florida. Admission to Red Hot & Boom! is free and performances run from 4 PM to 11 PM. The fireworks display takes place at 9:30 PM. Red Hot & Boom! also will be simulcast on XL 106.7 FM. Note: No pets, coolers or personal fireworks are allowed at Red Hot & Boom!

The city of  Sanford  will have  a  July 4th family-oriented extravaganza full of live entertainment, games, family activities and concessions, the Festival on the Fourth culminates with one of the largest fireworks shows in Central Florida. The festivities take place along the city’s brand-new River Walk overlooking Lake Monroe in historic downtown Sanford. Admission is free.
In Osceola County you can celebrate Independence Day along the laid-back St. Cloud Lakefront with live music, carnival rides, a petting zoo, classic car show, model stock car racing, an arts and crafts show, food and fireworks display. Admission is free.  As you can see there is no other place in the world for vacationers and families, Orlando has it all!
